Five rooms. One kitchen. The kind of quiet you only get when the road ends and the woods begin.
About the Cottage
Seldom Seen Cottage sits on a private knoll above the White River valley, a half-mile down a gravel lane that most GPS systems refuse to map. We built it this way on purpose.
This is not a motel with a sign on the highway. It is a home — one we restored by hand, room by room, over years — that we now offer to travelers who prefer the company of silence to the noise of convenience.
There are five guest rooms, each furnished with pieces we've kept or commissioned specifically for this house. The kitchen is shared and stocked with things we actually use: a cast-iron skillet, a French press, a wooden table that seats eight.
Accommodations
Each room is named for a feature of the land around it. They share a kitchen, a porch, and the same commitment to comfort.
Facing the western slope, this room catches the last light of day. King bed, private bath, and a reading chair that belongs to no one else.
A smaller room with a surprisingly deep window seat. Full bed, ideal for a solo traveler or a couple who values space to breathe.
The largest room in the house. Separate sitting area, queen bed, and a bath with a shower that feels like standing under a waterfall.
Morning light pours through here first. Double bed, a small writing desk, and a view of the creek that runs behind the house.
Named for the fieldstone chimney that runs through the house. Queen bed, a fireplace that actually works, and the warmest light in the building.

We don't have a front desk, a pool, or a breakfast buffet. What we have is a house that was built carefully, a kitchen you're welcome to use, and the kind of grounds that make you want to linger.
Five acres of wooded hillside. No through traffic. No neighbors within sight.
Fully equipped. Cast iron, French press, and everything we use ourselves. Cook what you like.
A short drive down the hill. Boating, fishing, and sunset views from the water.
Coffee in the morning. Stars at night. The porch is the best seat in the house.
